Cork is an extremely sustainable material, as its extraction process from the cork oak is one of the most environmentally friendly. Cork is harvested from the tree only every nine years, and each time the bark grows back it absorbs CO2 from the air.

As it is a very versatile, lightweight, waterproof and hypoallergenic material, it has become a widely used option in various footwear components such as exteriors, insoles or linings.

At Lazuli we have used this material in the insoles of some of our sandals.
