World recycling day
As awareness of global environmental challenges continues to grow, the future of the fashion industry is undergoing a transformation towards sustainability. One area in particular that stands out is the footwear sector, where it is increasingly common to see news of brands exploring new ways to reduce the environmental impact of their products. One of the most promising approaches is the use of recycled materials in the manufacture of footwear.
In this article, we'll explore some examples of recycled materials that can be found in Lazuli models.
Recycled cotton
The recycled cotton is a fabric that comes from the huge quantities of fabric that end up being discarded as waste. By recycling this industrial surplus that would otherwise go to landfill, it is possible to obtain a new cotton fiber that allows this waste to be put back into the production process.
Another great advantage is that the manufacturing process for this material is very environmentally friendly, thanks to technological developments it is possible to carry out this process without using water.
We use this material on the exterior of various models, such as the myDaddy Recycled, which has its entire exterior made of this material.
Recycled plastic
Plastic has become one of the world's biggest environmental threats. In order to combat it and reduce the environmental footprint, various products have been created that recycle plastic to give it a new life cycle. In footwear, this new reality is no exception. Technological innovation has made it possible to create fabrics and other components made entirely or partially from recycled plastic.
We use a variety of fabrics in our models, including recycled plastic. This is the case with linings made from Bio-Corn, a fabric that contains 40% recycled plastic, and Seaqual fabric, which contains 10% recycled plastic taken from the ocean.
One of the models where we can find recycled plastic is the myTile sneakers, a large part of its exterior is made of this material.
Recycled fabric
At Lazuli we believe that being sustainable is largely about reusing materials and waste that would otherwise end up in landfills or have to be incinerated, with all the environmental consequences that entails. The use of recycled fabric makes it possible to recover these materials and give them a new lease of life.
The best examples are myTwist Wedge and the myStrips Wedge! Its straps are made from recycled polyester fabric.
